Formula 1 Jam

Mc Laren F1 team exorcised the race win demons that followed them in 2006 with a scintillatingly immaculate drive from two time world champion Fernando Alonso and Rookie Lewis Hamlinton. The duo took control of the race from the first corner and did not relent despite pressure from Massa initially and towards the end by Kimi.

The start was exactly what Ferrari did not want, Alonso and Hamlinton both slid past the Scarlet cars at turn one. Alonso took the opportunity and banged in some fast laps as Hamlinton and Massa fought for second. At Lap 5 Massa dared a move and outbreaked the corner ending up in the kitty litter. The Brazilian rejoined in 5th a place he would retain for the rest of the evening.

The rest of the race was pretty straight forward for the Silver Arrows… A few short hiccups towards the end when it looked like Kimi would reach Hamlinton just before the chequered flag.

Heidfeld held onto 4th place gifted to him by Massa’s mistake to lead BMW to another strong finish. BMW clearly were the best of the rest… Massa was followed home by Giancarlo Fisichella who drove brilliantly to get the Renault into the points. The Italian made up 6 positions from his dismal 12th starting position. Trulli and Heikki took the remaining point scoring positions. The Finn earning his maiden point in a Renault that looks as if its clearly struggling for pace.

The race held in super hot conditions surprisingly saw only four retirements. Sutil, Albers, Coulthard and Rosberg marked the non finishers.
