Everyone Goes GA GA Over Massa.

Well it all started, when the best the sport had seen, retired. The Phenomena named Micheal Schumacher Had Come to a dramatic end, which showcased one of the best duels the sport had seen, involving him and the reigning champ Fernando Alonso. At this point everyone, Sort Of assumed that the Man replacing him at ferrari will be Number 1 driver. Even though the flying finn had utterly uneventful year, with no finishes on top step of the podium. But then during the winter testing, Massa almost always clocked faster than the finn, which caught the imagination of the few. Some of whom actually went on to Make comments like these,
* That the finn was over rated.
* That the Team Mclaren was may be being pulled down by the incompetence of both Kimi and Juan Pablo Montoya.
And most others, started making comments like,
* Massa is man for Ferrari, implying that he would be the Number 1 driver for the team.
* Massa is Next driver world champ(shortsightedly off course).
While few more now had doubts overs the Number 1 driver spot for the team ferrari.
Well Being Kimi Raikkonen’s fan, ideally i would not want to answer these points and let his performance on the track have these people eat there own words. but this is not an ideal world, So here i go,
kimi raikkonen is over-rated? honestly, Its thanks to a rookie named Kimi that Sauber team had the best finish is till date 4th in championship table. This is the same guy who in spite having one victory in a season, competed with the Micheal Schumacher for the Title. He is Same guy who won many grand prix as the champ did the same season, and had about twice as much reliability problems as the champ Alonso did.
As for Incompitancy holding the Mclaren down, give me a break. The same guy recorded 10 fastest laps to his name in 2006, as opposed to 2 fastest laps recorded by the champ in the same year (for the record Alonso has only 7 fastest laps recorded to his name, Thus far in his career). which proves that the driver is very quick and the performance just wasn’t there in that MP-21 that Mclaren had in 2006.
And finally, Massa can be a Number 1 driver but when there’s someone like kimi raikkonen is in the team he just falls short, this obviously isn’t necessarily going to stay this way for a long while. As to guess who’ll be drivers champ, is way to early to predict this one, but one thing is for sure Massa still has to improve a lot to be one.
Absolutely agree with you… I believe that Massa has still a long way to go before he can be considered a contender to the World Championship. The media and critics have been brutal on Kimi based on a few comments and few tests, I guess they will get their answers within the first few rounds of 2007 season.
